Ashaway renews with Daryl Selby, signs Vikram Malhotra

Ashaway renews sponsorship deal with world #19 Daryl Selby, signs Vikram Malhotra

Ashaway Racket Strings has announced it has renewed its long-standing sponsorship agreement with British veteran Daryl Selby, and signed a new agreement with Indian touring squash pro Vikram Malhotra. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

“Our sponsorship program is a win-win in several ways,” said Ashaway’s Steve Crandall.

“It helps athletes reduce equipment costs at all stages of their careers, and it allows us to give back to the industry that helps support us. More, working with these athletes helps us learn how our strings perform and how we can make them better. And perhaps best of all, top athletes like Daryl and Vikram become excellent ambassadors for the Ashaway brand. So it’s an excellent investment.”

At 36, Englishman Daryl Selby ended the PSA 2018-19 season as the World No. 19 by winning his biggest title, the PSA World Tour Bronze event, the QSF No.1 in Qatar. In his 19 years on the PSA World Tour, Daryl has won 281 of 457 matches for a career win ratio of 61.5%.

Daryl achieved his highest ranking of World No. 9 in April 2011, and has 13 PSA Tour Titles to his credit, including a World Team Championship in 2013, seven European Team Championships, and the British National Championship in 2011.

An Ashaway sponsored player since 2010, Daryl likes PEEK-based UltraNick® 18, which he says, adds, “a touch more feel to my front court game.”

In 2017 Daryl also announced the formation of Dynamic 7 Sport, a sports management and events agency focusing on Squash, cricket, and golf, joining with wife Lucie and sister Karen in the venture.

Vikram Malhotra is currently ranked No. 60 on the PSA World Tour.

A native of Mumbai, India, he was a four-time All-American for Trinity College men’s squash where he is now an assistant coach. He is a five-time Junior National Champion in India and Asia’s former No. 1-ranked junior player.

After obtaining a post graduate degree in public policy and law from Trinity College, Vikram joined the PSA World Tour in 2015. He ended his first season at No. 55 in the PSA World rankings and has thus far won 10 PSA world tour titles.

Vikram says he has used Ashaway strings for many years and is currently using UltraNick 18. He is delighted that, “the sponsorship has given me complete access to Ashaway gear, including a new Ashaway PowerKill® Ice 125 VM racket which was made specifically to my requirements.”
