2021 Hong Kong Open postponed due to COVID-19
The PSA and Hong Kong Squash have confirmed that the Everbright Sun Hung Kai Hong Kong Squash Open – which was due to take place from 29th Nov to 5th Dec – has been postponed to 2022 due to the ongoing impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
PSA, Hong Kong Squash and key event stakeholders have made the decision in order to safeguard the health and safety of all players, spectators and staff.
The Hong Kong Open has suffered more than most major events, with the 2019 edition cancelled due to the protests taking place at the time, and the 2020 edition due to the pandemic.
All parties will now work together closely to stage the next edition of the Hong Kong Open during the 2022-23 season.
2021 WSF World Juniors cancelled due to COVID-19
The WSF and the Egyptian Squash Federation regret to announce that the 2021 WSF World Junior Squash Championships, rescheduled for November in Egypt, has been officially cancelled due to the on-going impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WSF had been working closely with the Egyptian Federation to find alternative dates during the early part of 2022. However, due to remaining complications caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, both organisations have agreed to take the difficult decision to cancel the tournament.
The last World Juniors was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2019 with the 2020 edition scheduled for Australia’s Gold Coast postponed and eventually cancelled.
The WSF’s focus now turns to delivering the 2021 WSF Mens World Teams, which is scheduled to take place Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December of this year and supporting the Russian Squash Federation, which will host the 2022 World Juniors in St Petersburg in August 2022.
The WSF looks forward to working closely with the Egyptian Squash Federation when they host the World University Championships in June, 2022 and the WSF Women’s World Team Championships in December, 2022.
