Semis: Top men’s seeds through as women’s are beaten

Top seeds Vikram Malhotra and Aditya Jagtap won their all-Indian quarter-finals as they advanced to the final, but it was a different story in the women’s as Menna Hamed and Sununya Kuruvilla beat the top two seeds to set up a surprise final.

Quarters: Indian clean sweep in men’s as Sunayna jpoins Egyptian trio in women’s semis

It was a great day for the host nation in the men’s quarter-finals in Delhi as four Indians won through to the semis.

Top seed Vikram Malhotra will face wildcard Velaval Senthilkumar, while second seed Aditya Jagtap meets youngster Yash Fadte, wo came from a game down to oust third seed Ammar Altamimi.

Top seed Farida Mohamed is one of three Egyptians through to the women’s semis, but she had to come from two games down to deny compatriot Hana Moataz to set up a semi against third seed Menna Hamed.

Second seed Salma Youssef came from one-two down to beat Tanvi Khanna, and she’ll meet the sole remaining Indian in Sunayna Kuruvilla, the fourth seed.
