For years the Closed Racket face has been the demon of Squash…from coaching manuals to ‘on-line’ content the CRF has taking a battering…..
Maybe the reason is that most beginners learn with an ORF of course otherwise they will never get the basics BUT…..once a player becomes more advanced in my opinion that is the time to start having some fun and playing around with BOTH the ORF and the CRF…
We marvel at Brett Martin and Hiddy Jahan’s ability to hit hard with just their wrists….yes you guessed it…the trick apart from having the strength is the CLOSED racket face….you see Ramy Ashour the latter-day magician killing the backhand volley deep….guess what..he’s using as CLOSED racket face… have a play around with it next your on court…you won’t be disappointed….
