Pan Am Games : all over in Lima as USA claim both Team Golds …

The 2019 Pan Americam Games take place in Lima, Peru, with Squash on the program from 25th to 31st July in Singles, Doubles and Team competitions.

Singles : History for Diego and Amanda

The singles events concluded with historic wins for the top seeds – Diego Elias secured a first gold for Peru as he beat defending champion Miguel Rodriguez in four games, while Amanda Sobhy became the first woman to win two successive games as she beat Olivia Blatchford Clyne in an all-USA final.

Doubles : Two for USA as Colombia taste gold again

In the Doubles, USA took the men’s and women’s titles via Amanda & Sabrina Sobhy and Chris Hanson & Todd Harrity, while Colombia’s Catalina Pelaez & Miguel Rodriguez tasted Gold again for Colombia.

Teams : Double Gold for USA

The Squash Games concluded with Team USA claiming both team titles – the first time any nation has done so !!  Amanda Sobhy – who finishes with three Gold medals just as she did in last year’s Pan Am Champs – put USA ahead before Olivia Blatchford eked out a nailbiting win.

Miguel Rodriguez put Colombia ahead in the men’s final, but Chris Hanson and Andrew Douglas turned it around for the USA.

Team Event

Last year’s Pan Am Champs – they’re held in each of the three years between Games – in the Cayman Islands was the qualifying event for the teams with the top eight men’s and women’s teams going through to Lima.
