Semi-Finalists decided on Gold Coast

The third day of play in the WSF World Doubles on Australia’s Gold Coast saw the completion of the Men’s and Mixed pool matches as the semi-final lineups were decided.

Defending Men’s Champions Ryan Cuskelly & Cameron Pilley made it four wins out of four in Pool A, with South Africans Jean-Pierre Brits & Christo Potgieter beating Nick a& Tom Calvert to grab second spot.

Pool B came down to a decider with Zac Alexander & Rex Hedrick meeting Colombians Andres Herrera & Juan Vargas to decide the final placings, and it was the Aussies who took the honours with a hard-fought two-nil win.

The Mixed Pools went to seeding as Colombia’s Catalina Pelaez & Matias Knudsen topped Pool B to join three Aussie pairs in the semis.

The Women’s matches continued, with top seeds Donna Lobban & Christine Nunn recording a third straight win, and they’ll likely face compatriots Sarah Cardwell & Jessica Turnbull on the final day to decide the medals.
