AJ Bell England Squash Challenge : Day TWO
The AJ Bell England Squash Challenge continued today with 16 English players relishing the prospect of their first competitive matches for months.
There were two rounds of pool matches today as the final positions are decided ahead of Thursday’s playoff finals.
You can watch both courts live, keep up with the results on Live Scoring and our Draws, and we’ll have a roundup here at the end of the day.
Afternoon session : Finals decided as Millie survives Jazz comeback
After the final round of pool matches the playoff positions are decided, with the finals being Millie Tomlinson v Georgina Kennedy and George Parker v Patrick Rooney.
All four won their Pools with three straight wins, and all four Pools finished with clear 1/2/3/4 positions, no countback needed!
Women’s top seed Tomlinson fended off a comeback from Jasmine Hutton to win in five, while Kennedy, seeded four in her pool, has yet to drop a game.
Parker and Rooney have been impressive in their progress to the men’s final, and with just ten places between them in the world rankings (42 v 52) a close final is in prospect.
Morning Session : Gina on a roll as pool deciders approach …
Gina Kennedy continued her impressive form, a straight-game win over Lucy Turmel putting her in pole position in women’s Pool A, but Turmel and Julianne Courtice are still in contention. In Pool A Millie Tomlinson and Jasmine Hutton notched up their second wins to set up a pool decider later today.
In the men’s pools top seeds George Parker and Patrick Rooney both recorded their second wins, Parker faces Richie Fallows in a Pool A decider while Rooney, Ben Coleman and Charlie Lee could still win Pool B.
