Jakub Solnicky (Cze) 3-1 [3] Ivan Perez (Esp) 4-11, 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 (66m)
Unseeded Solnicky claims second PSA title in Paris
Perez started strong and won the first game comprehensively, but Solnicky – whose breakthrough came in the quarter-finals where he ousted second seeded compatriot Daniel Mekbib – was able to slow down the pace and took control of proceeding from then on, finding some lovely winners at the front of the court.
We thought that the Spaniard would be to able to use his physicality to turn things around as the match went on, but the Czech continued to be clinical and raced to his second PSA title.
“I don’t know if it’s my best match ever, but it certainly goes to my top five! It’s funny because when I first arrived I couldn’t find my game at all on this court, I could not predict I would go all the way.”
