PSA analyses matches to come
Round One: Youssef Ibrahim v Aly Abou Eleinen
Youssef Ibrahim has been handed an extremely tricky return to competitive action following shoulder surgery, having been drawn against Egyptian compatriot Aly Abou Eleinen in the first round.
World No. 7 Ibrahim will feature on the PSA Squash Tour for the first time since the PSA World Championships final in May, after undergoing shoulder surgery following several dislocations throughout the 2025/26 season.
‘The Gunslinger’ was a semi-finalist at the U.S. Open 12 months ago and is widely regarded as one of the most eye-catching players on the men’s tour due to his entertaining, attacking style of squash.
And against World No.11 Eleinen, fans are in for a brilliant match. The latter is a former semi-finalist at the U.S. Open, a run which included wins over former World Champion Tarek Momen and World No.1 Mostafa Asal.
Although the pair played each other during their time at college in the U.S., this will be their first meeting on the PSA Squash Tour.
Round Two: Amanda Sobhy v Nour ElSherbini
If they come through their respective round one matches at the U.S. Open, Nour ElSherbini and Amanda Sobhy will face off for the 23rd time on the PSA Squash Tour in the second round next week.
The pair have enjoyed a long-standing rivalry which dates all the way back to the 2013 British Open, with ElSherbini winning 16 matches compared to Sobhy’s six. However, eight of those have gone all the way to five games.
ElSherbini will be looking to bounce back from a slow start to the season, which has seen her knocked out before the semi-finals in each of the Qatar Classic, Egyptian Open and Silicon Valley Open. The No.3 seed will be hoping to silence any critics with a strong run towards a second U.S. Open title.
