Cassie Jackman awarded MBE for services to squash
The leading women’s squash player Cassie Jackman, from Norwich, has been awarded an MBE.
The award, in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours, is for her services to the sport of squash.
Ms Jackman is among 10 people across Norfolk who have been given honours. They include the Chief Constable of Norfolk Police, Andy Hayman.
He has been given a Queen’s Police Medal. Workers at the Queen’s Sandringham estate are also honoured.
Ms Jackman for over 10 years has been one of the top squash players in the world.
In February she made history when she beat Linda Charman to win her sixth British National Squash title.
Ms Jackman returned to playing a year ago after a second career-threatening back operation.
