El Gouna International 2023 : It's Gohar and Farag

Gohar and Farag claim El Gouna titles

Nouran Gohar and Ali Farag are the 2023 El Gouna International Champions after victories over Nele Gilis and Mostafa Asal in the Red Sea resort.

Gohar, having avenged last year’s final defeat with a 107-minute semi-final win over defending champion Hania El Hammamy in the semis, beat surprise finalist Gilis – who had beaten Nour El Sherbini in the semis to become Belgium’s first PSA Platinum finalist – in straight games.

Farag completed a remarkable run of victories in beating defending champion Asal in four games – he’s now won four events in a row, the British Open, World Champs, Manchester Open and El Gouna – and will reclaim the World #1 spot in Monday’s rankings – as will Gohar.
