It’s an Egyptian double in Karachi as Karim Abdel Gawad and Nour Aboulmakarim take the titles ..

Round Two :

Squash royalty descended upon the Creek Club squash courts on day two of the GFS Karachi Open Squash Championship 2022 with Karim Abdel Gawad and Shahjahan Khan registering victories to move into the quarter final stage.

Egyptian star Gawad won 3-1 against Pakistan’s Asim Khan in the last match of the day in front of a packed crowd, impressing squash legend Jahangir Khan who was on the court to witness the keenly followed match. Gawad will now face Hong Kong’s Henry Leung, fresh from a surprise 3-0 win against number six seed Todd Harrity of the USA.

The women’s event saw Yee Xin Ying of Malaysia upset top seed Enora Villard of France in straight games. In another upset, Chan Sin Yuk of Hong Kong won 3-2 against Menna Hamed of Egypt.

The tournament now enters the exciting quarter final stage that will feature number one seed Karim Abdel Gawad and USA number one Shahjahan Khan in the men’s matches while Hong Kong’s Lee Ka Yi  and England’s Lucy Beecroft will be seen in action in the women’s event.
