Quarters : Bailey’s run continues at Cumberland Club
Unseeded Bailey Malik continued his sensational run at the Cumberland Club, beating Argentinian sixth seed Jeremias Azana in a tense five games, setting up a semi-final against his seventh-seeded brother Perry, who ended the run of wildcard Aly Tolba. In the bottom half Wales’ Emyr Evans came through in five games against Rory Stewart and will meet second seed George Parker in the semis.
Top seeds Nardine Garas and Jessica van der Walt won through to the women’s semis where they’ll both face opponents – Rana Ismail and Yassmhita Jadishkumar – who upset the seedings in their quarter-finals.
Day TWO : Bailey downs top seed on day of men’s upsets
Another sixteen matches on Day Two at the Cumberland Club, with one big upset as Bailey Malik beat top seed Nick Wall in a five game thriller.
Elsewhere in the men’s draw unseeded Rhys Evans, Aly Tolba and Sam Buckley also caused seeding upsets to reach the quarters.
Less drama in the women’s draw with Singapore’s Wai Yhann Au Yeong joining seven seeds in the last eight.
