Victor Crouin: First time in the CIBPSA Finals!

On FaceBook, Victor summarises his last event, El Gouna, and talks about finding motivation and energy at the end of a long season…

👊 I was determined to give my all this week, as it marked the season’s final event. It’s important to me to finish on a positive note and leave everything I have on the table. I am pleased with the result I achieved, reaching the quarter-finals of a Platinum event for the fifth time this season and officially qualifying for the World Tour Finals.

🌴 El Gouna is always a challenging tournament because it takes place towards the end of the season, and the atmosphere resembles more of a vacation trip than a competition. You have to be extremely cautious about the food you eat to avoid indigestion, and it’s crucial to be mindful of the time spent under the sun, whether by the pool (or even practising on the outdoor glass court!).

🆙 Over the past few weeks, I struggled with motivation and determination. However, I am delighted that I overcame it this week and emerged victorious in two fiercely contested matches. I defeated Dimitri Steinmann and Ali Abou Eleinen in my first two rounds in 80 and 95 minutes, respectively. The third-round match presented one of the most intense scenarios I’ve ever experienced, and I’m relieved that I could exact revenge this time.

🙌 Facing Ali Farag in the quarter-finals was really special, especially as it was our first encounter on the PSA World Tour. Despite a strong start in the first game, I eventually ran out of steam as Ali picked up the pace, ultimately winning the next three games. It was a thrilling experience, and I’m looking forward to our future encounters in the upcoming season!

Looking ahead, I am excited to participate in the World Tour Finals in a few weeks’ time. It’s always been a dream and will mark the end of a very successful season, regardless of what happens there.

But before that, I have a couple of exhibition matches scheduled in France, followed by the French Team playoffs in mid-June. It’s going to be an intense and exciting period! 🔥
