Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini has overtaken compatriot Nouran Gohar to return to World #1 in this week’s PSA World Rankings.
The 27-year-old returns to the top for the first time since May after beating Gohar to win the inaugural Paris Squash event on Saturday, ending Gohar’s 13-week reign at the summit.
This is the fourth time that El Sherbini has gone to World #1, with the seven-time World Champion celebrating the 212th week of her career at the top of the rankings.
Gohar drops down to #2, with Hania El Hammamy, Joelle King and Amanda Sobhy completing the top five. Elsewhere in the top 20, Salma Hany (#12), Olivia Clyne (#13), Sarah-Jane Perry (#14) and Farida Mohamed (#17) are on the rise.
Ali Farag has extended his lead at the summit of the men’s rankings ahead of Diego Elias after beating the Peruvian in the men’s Paris Squash title decider on Saturday to make it 14 successive weeks at World #1.
Mohamed ElShorbagy, Mostafa Asal and Paul Coll take the final places in the top five.
Frenchman Victor Crouin rises a spot to a joint career-high ranking of #7, with Colombian veteran Miguel Rodriguez moving up to #13.
