The Edinburgh Open : Day ONE

The 2024 Edinburgh Open kicked off tonight at Edinburgh Sports Club with Men’s Round One, featuring mostly local talent aiming to win through to a R2 match against one of the international stars.

All the matches went to seeding, with John Meehan and Martin Ross getting the plum draws against top seeds Karim Abdel Gawad and Joel Makin.

“Buzzing to be playing against one of my favourite players to watch,” said Meehan, who faces Gawad at noon.

On Friday it’s Women’s Round One from 10.00, and Men’s Round Two from noon, with  and both sets of quarter-finals later on Friday, along with the Graded events (which start at 18.00).
