Sister Habiba…

“My sister is someone I’ve been looking up to since I was four. She has been a great influence and a role model in my life, not just in squash but in studies, life and everything.

“When I started playing squash, she was my role model then, and she still is, actually.

“I went to Columbia University, I started studying economics because I’ve seen her do the same thing, and it was always something that I dreamed of was to be like her.

“I’m so proud of her and I’m happy to follow the steps she took, and I’m thankful for her help and support along the way.

Her Father

“The loss of my father, though, was very difficult and still is.

I lost him about three years ago, and since then, it has never been the same. I had him at almost every tournament with me. His dream was to see me successful and to reach the top. I definitely visualised him to be with me through these steps.

“I do feel his presence, I do hear his voice. I do remember his advice. But I’m sure he’s watching over me and he’s proud of how strong I’ve been since I lost him.

“It wasn’t easy on me, but I know he’s proud. I know he’s watching me. I believe that every step forward, every success I achieve, I owe it to him. He’s the reason for everything.
