Grow a #Squashtache for Movember and PSA Foundation

PSA World Tour Players to grow a #Squashtache this November in support of Movember and PSA Foundation

This November, some of the players on the PSA World are growing their “Squashtache” in support of Movember a charity focused on supporting Men’s health, and the We Are One Fund– a hardship fund which supports Squash players across the globe in financial need.

A number of PSA World Tour Players are taking part in this challenge to raise funds for both these vital causes- the total raised will be spilt 50/50 between Movember and The We Are One Fund.

Players that are currently involved are Former World Champion Mohammed El Shorbagy, Scottish Number One Greg Lobban, Kiwi star Paul Coll, Swiss numbers one and two Nicholas Mueller and Dimitri Steinmann, and Squash Legend Gregory Gaultier to name just a few.

They will also be challenging other players across the tour to take part.

Causes the campaign is supporting :

Movember is a charity which addresses the health challenges men across the globe face.

A growing number of men – around 10.8M globally – are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.

The charity is uniquely placed to address this crisis on a global scale. We fund groundbreaking projects all over the world, engaging men where they are to understand what works best and accelerate change.

The We Are One Fund is a player-driven initiative which aims to bring the squash community together by providing relief to PSA players that are in need of urgent financial support.

Originally launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, the fund is continuing to operate as a hardship fund- supporting expenses such as food bills, rent and medical costs.

The fund ensures the professional players we know and love remain safe, healthy and can continue to compete in the sport that we all love during this difficult time!

PSA Foundation We Are One Fund relaunches with a new focus

The “We Are One” Fund that successfully supported professional squash players across the globe facing financial distress during COVID is continuing to benefit players in need but with a new focus.

The fund was launched in 2020 as a player-driven initiative, aimed to provide relief to PSA players that needed urgent financial support during the pandemic while the Tour was suspended. Thanks to the generosity of the squash community, the fund raised and distributed over $180,000 to players in need all over the world.

With the Tour back in full swing, the PSA Foundation has announced that the “We Are One” fund will continue to support players in need but relaunched as an emergency hardship fund which will aid players facing severe hardship such as career ending injuries, family calamities and unforeseeable emergencies.

“After reading hundreds of applications for the We are One Fund during the pandemic, we quickly realized that our players don’t always have a support network and not many emergency resources available in times of need. That is why we decided to reshape the fund as a permanent hardship fund for players who need a helping hand when facing unexpected hardship.”

“The players are the heartbeat of our sport, and we know how challenging being a professional squash player is. This fund will be a safety net to allow our players to continue shining a light on our beloved sport around the world.”
