The prestigious Chapel Allerton Club in Leeds, England, is looking to appoint a Squash & Racketball Manager

Job Title: Squash & Racketball Manager

Location: Chapel Allerton Club, Leeds
Hours: Full time (20 hours per week contracted to the club, up to 20+ hours per week through self-employed coaching)
Salary: £16,000–£18,000 per annum 

Additional Earnings: Opportunities for extra income through coaching on our programme at £25 per hour, private lessons with the price set by the coach, hosting tournaments and other events that do not compete with our internal squash programme.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and proactive Squash & Racketball Manager to lead and grow our squash and racketball programmes at Chapel Allerton. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of these sports within a vibrant and welcoming club environment. 

You will be responsible for managing all aspects of squash and racketball operations, including coaching programmes, events, and community engagement, ensuring members enjoy an outstanding experience on and off the court. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme Development: Design and deliver engaging junior and adult coaching programmes in collaboration with the Squash Committee. Ensure squash team participation remains high, teams are submitted on time and aid team captains with queries.  
  • Operations Management: Oversee court bookings for coaching, matches, and training sessions. Ensure courts remain in good condition and help the General Manager to organise court maintenance. 
  • Coach Coordination: Manage and support coaches, ensuring compliance with club policies and England Squash standards (DBS, First Aid, Safeguarding). Motivate coaches and lead by example when interacting on internal and external coaching activities. Actively collaborate with coaches from other areas to share ideas and initiatives. 
  • Events & Tournaments: Organize internal and external tournaments, including England Squash sanctioned events, PSA events, and club championships. Internal closed events will be included in the role with external events paid separately. In year 1 external events will be paid on a pro-rata hourly rate of the salary with the potential for a profit share model to be introduced in future years. 
  • Community Engagement: Create social events, box leagues, and fun competitions to boost participation and court usage. Attract new members and ensure they are invited to participate in an introductory session. Be persuasive when creating community partnerships and potential sponsorship opportunities. 
  • Marketing & Promotion: Work with the marketing team to promote squash and racketball to members and the wider community. Be influential and act as a role model 
  • Performance & Growth: Develop and maintain an ongoing plan to ensure growth, participation and maximise use of the available facilities. Develop KPIs with the General Manager and Squash Committee; identify sponsorship and funding opportunities. 

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications: England Squash Level 3 (or equivalent) coaching accreditation. 
  • Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for squash and racketball, with a drive to grow participation. 
  • Commitment: Demonstrate commitment to Chapel Allerton, offer flexibility in hours where required and exceed expectations to achieve long term success. 
  • Achievement Orientated: Be motivated by results and take ownership of goal setting to ensure continuous improvement is achieved. 
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and leadership qualities 
    • Creative approach to programme development and engagement 
    • Excellent organizational skills to correctly manage time and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Desirable: Experience in marketing, sponsorship acquisition, or community sports development.
