Prague hosts a PSA Challenger Men’s $6k event as Christmas approaches …
[1] Gregory Gaultier (Fra) 3-0 [8] Viktor Byrtus (Cze) 11-7, 11-6, 11-4 (26m)
Day TWO :
It’s youth v Experience n the final in Prague after semi-final wins from Viktor Byrtus and Gregory Gaultier …
GG 3-0 Jakub Solnicky : Greg was in control though the whole match. Jakob played very well, pulled out all his weapons but unfortunately for him it was not enough. Great experience for Czech guy to play ‘big’ guy in real match.
Viktor Byrtus 3-1 Aqeel Rehman : experience vs. youth. Tight match. It could have gone either way. Viktor managed to play those crucial point better even though his performance was bit more up and down. Fortunately for him he was at his ups at the right time, so he booked the spot in the final match against the General.
Day ONE :
The first round went as seeding expected apart from second seed Daniel Mekbib v wildcard Ondrej Vorlicek. Daniel didn’t look like in his best form and Ondrej recognised that. As he sniffed chance, he just went for it with no fear. 3/1 for Ondrej and big upset.
We had another seeding upset in the quarters where Jakub Solnicky played very well, solid and consistent against Yannik Omlor. Consistency maybe was the ingredient Yannik was lacking a bit and that’s why he lost 3/1 against Czech player. Good one for Jakub.
Match of the day was Aqeel Rehman against Roshan Bharos, it had intensity, emotions, passion.. really close match which went in favour experienced player from Austria.
Number one seeded, the General Gregory Gaultier, looks very focused. After his second match against Robert Downer he gave Rob some analysis of his game in order to give him some tips he might work on in the future.. What a legend…
