Finals Day :
The final day of the REDtone KL junior open saw some brilliant matches.
Last years boys under 17 champion came back this year to win the under 19s event. Ryu Jeonguk defeated Fabian Seitz in four closely contested games.
Syed Kebir Ayesha Rania won the girls under 19s final defeating Kiera Hickox in three games in the final.
Aqil Mirza Naim was able to see off Erwin Kros in three games in the boys under 17s event. Helen Tang from Hong Kong China won the girls under 17s event against Najwa Zara in the final.
Niea Chew won the girls under 15s defeating Himari Midorikawa in three games. It was a Selangor double as Jayden Tan won the boys under 15s beating Tomo Ikeda in three games.
Second seed Hau Ching Chu beat Maisara in the girls under 13s final in four tight games. Top seed Yuan Xi Liu from China managed to win the boys under 13s event.
Saturday, Day FIVE : Down to the Finalists in KL
Day five of the REDtone KL junior open saw more shocks as the seeds continued to tumble.
Fabian Seitz continued his fine form beating Korean Lee Jong Hyeok in four games. His opponent in the final will be another Korean and last years under 17s winner Ryu Jeonguk.
In the boys under 17s Aqil Mirza Naim survived a tough 3-2 battle with Team mate Izz Nabil and in the lower half of the draw it was Erwin Kros that defeated second seed Altamis Bin. A. Sufian also in five games.
In the girls under 17s Helen Tang continued to dominate the age group winning in three games and Najwa Zara beat Harleein Tan in four games.
Japans Himari Midorikawa came back from two games down to beat Amber Kristy Muyou in five games. In the lower half of the draw Niea Chew needed four games to see off Emelda Camalia.
In the boys under 13s Yuan Xi Liu beat Mior El-Fayyadh in three games. His opponent will be Wai Hong Tang from Hong Kong.
Friday, Day FOUR : Shocks as semi-finalists are decided
Day four of the REDtone KL junior open 2024 and today saw plenty of shocks.
In the girls under 19s event Syed Kebir Ayesha Rania defeated top seed Anrie Goh 11-9 in the fifth game. The KL girl will now play Australias Joanne Joseph after she beat Darsyanaa Ravintharan in four games.
In the lower half of the draw Ahyeon Cho defeated second seed Abhitha Shanraj in four games and plays Canadas Kiera Hickox for a place in the finals.
In the boys under 19s event another upset when Fabian Seitz knocked out top seed Hashvind Kugan in four games. He will play Korean Lee Jong Hyeok in the semi finals.
In the lower half of the draw Mohammed Changanian from Iran beat Larry Wong in three games.
In the boys under 17s everything went to the seedings except Izz Nabil continued his good form beating Ivan Chang in three games.
In the girls under 15s event, Amber Kristy Muyou continued her good form making the semi finals. Her semi final opponent will be Japanese player Himari Midorikawa after she beat Ka Yau Chung.
Niea Chew beat second seed Naisha Singh from Singapore in four games.
Another great day of matches with two more days to go.
Thursday, Day THREE : Seeds suffer in KL
Day three of the KL REDtone Junior open saw a lot more seeds losing out on the quarter-final places. In the boys, under 19’s event, Kuhen Manimaran defeated, 3/4 seed Tam Tsz Shing in five games. Unseeded Khaled Alfouzan from Kuwait has made it through to the quarter-finals where he will play last years under 17s winner Jeonguk Ryu from Korea. In an all Hong Kong battle, Larry Wong beat second seed Wing Kuen Wong in five games.
In the boys under 17s mainly all went to seedings and there should be some really good matches tomorrow. It is a similar story in the girls under 17s event with all the seeds making it through to the quarter-finals.
In the boys under 15s there are quite a few of the sites with a number of lower seeds making it through to the quarter-finals . Wan Lok Kwan from Hong Kong claimed the biggest scalp knocking out second seed Simarver Bamotra Singh 3-2.
Wednesday, Day TWO : Down to the Last 16s
Day two at the REDtone KL junior open saw most of the seeds progress through to the last 16.
There was a an upset in the boys under 9s event when second seed Aiden Luo was defeated by Hor I-Zaac from Malaysia in four games.
As the competition heats up as we move to the round of last 16 tomorrow we expect their to be some fantastic matches.
Tuesday, Day ONE : Under way in KL
Day one of the KL junior open REDtone event saw a lot of matches taking place across the four venues. It was so good to see the centre in Jalan duta alive and full of atmosphere for a lot of matches.
Day one produced a lot of matches but not many upsets as most of the seeds advanced.
Just two upsets of the 5/8 seeded players in the girls under 11 category Zoe Makaryous from Malaysia defeated chinas Lu Ruoshui.
The other upset was Mohammed Rezan Nur Putri Dayana beat Kavilaasri Balamurugan 13-11 in the fifth in an all Malaysian Affair.

The 16th KL REDtone event is back with 1043 players from 24 countries which makes it the bigger than last year.
With the closure of Bukit Jalil there will be three additional venues to handle the event – Jalan Duta, Astaka, Royal Selangor club and Sky Arena.
In the boys under 19s event Hashvind Kugan playing in his home state will be top seed but there will be plenty of competition for the title. Second seed Wing Kuen Wong from HK could be a potential finalist but he will need to get past last years under 17s winner Ryu Jeonguk.
In the Girls under 19s event Ka Huen Leung is top seed and will face competition from Malaysian Anrie Goh for the title.
In the Girls under 17s Helen Tang will be back to defend her title that she won last year, she will face competition from Harleein Tan, Najwa Zara and Haneesha Veerakumar.
Boys under 17 event looks tight to call with a lot of good squash players in there. Aqil Mirza and Altamis Bin A. Sufian are the top two seeds but there are about 6 boys in there that could win it.
We will look forward to six high quality days of squash.
