FINALS Day :
Shu Takahasi from Japan claimed the BU19 title defeating Larry Wong from Hong Kong China on the final day of the REDtone KL Junior open. In the girls under 19s Haneesha Veerakumar won the event.
The boys under 17s final was by far the longest final of the day with second seed Haiqal Hazim beating Raziq Putra in 11.9 in the fifth. Harleein Tan beat Jinoreeka Ning in the girls u17 final.
Unfortunately the girls 15s final finished with a retirement but it was a good opening game and a half between Tang Ching Sum and Niea Chew.
Mohammed Sharhan defeated Hisshan Tan in three closely contested games in the BU15 final.
BU11 and BU9 started the day with two amazing finals with Iman Dylan and Amir Zafri Zubidi winning the titles.
There was titles for Yuen Tsz Long in the BU15, Jain Divyanshi in the GU13 and Choi Eun in the GU9.
Day FIVE, Semi-Final Saturday
Semi finals day at the REDtone KL junior open saw some exciting matches.
Vidhurran Ruthiran came back from two games down to beat second seed Arman Merzha in a high quality match. In the other semi final top seed Yuen Tsz Long from Hong Kong was leading 2.0 against Isaiah George before the Malaysian leveled up at two game all. Yuen recovered to win the fifth 11.3.
In the girls under 17s top seed Harleein Tan wasted little time defeating Naisha Singh. In the other semi final Jinoreeka Ning needed to recover from a game down to beat Yek Rui Jean in four games.
Niea Chew beat Maisara in three games and Tang Ching Sum beat second seed Yin Ziyuan also in three games.
Top seed Raziq ended the great run of Pakistani Muhammed Irfan Singh in three comfortable games.
Day FOUR, Quarter Finals Day
Day four of the REDtone KL junior open saw some brilliant matches, in the girls under 15s second seed Yin Ziyuan needed a tie break in the fifth to beat Yoga Varu Subramanium.
In the semi finals the second seed will play Tang Ching Sum from Hong Kong China as she beat Avantika Seenivasagam in three games. In the top half an impressive win from Maisara in three games over Sailajja. Top seed Niea Chew also won in straight sets.
Pakistans Muhammed Irfan Singh continued his fine form winning his quarter final to set up a show down with top seed Mohammed Raziq.
In the girls under 17s the top two seeds remain on course to make the final. Harleein Tan dispatched Amber Kristy in three games with Jinoreeka Ning needing four games to get passed Emelda Camalia.
Day THREE : Down to the Quarters
Day three of the REDtone KL junior open saw Matvei Yachmenkova continue his fine form in the boys under 19s.
In the boys under 17s there were a few upsets as a lower seeded Pakistani Muhammed Irfan Mustafa beat 3/4 seed Reehan Singh 11-4, 11-9, 11-9. Mohammed Raihan Mohammed Saiful beat the other 3/4 seed Shiv Kaul 12-10 in the fifth. Muhammad Darwish caused another upset when he beat Jayden Tan 11.6 in the fifth.
Tomorrow moves onto the quarter finals.
Day TWO : Big U19 Upset
Day two of the REDtone KL junior open saw a big upset in the boys under 19s as 3/4 seed Kuhen Ravendran was beaten in four games by Matvei Yachmenkov.
All the other age groups mostly went with the seedings. Tomorrow the competition reaches the round of last 16. It should be another day of exciting squash
Day ONEof the REDtone KL junior open event saw a lot of matches taking place across the four venues.
It was so good to see the centre in Jalan duta alive and full of atmosphere for a lot of matches.
Day one produced a lot of matches but not many upsets as most of the seeds advanced.
Tomorrow the top seeds in the boys u19s will begin their campaigns. The girls under 19s top seeds will begin on Thursday.
The boys under 15s will kick start the second days play at Jalan duta early on Wednesday morning and then have a second match in the afternoon.
PREVIEW
The 17th KL REDtone event is back with, 1005 players from 23 countries. Jalan Duta, Royal Lake Club, Royal Selangor club and ACE UM Centre of Excellence Bangsar will host the matches.
In the boys under 19s event Lee Jong – from Korea but training in Malaysia – will be top seed but there will be plenty of competition for the title. Second seed Wong Long Hin Larry from HK could be a potential finalist but will need to get passed the Malaysian pair of Sim Yeak Wei and Kuhan Ravendran.
In the Girls under 19s event Haneesha Veerakumar is top seed and will face competition from team mate Anusha Raymond for the title.
In the Girls under 17s Harleein Tan is top seed, she will face competition from Jinoreeka Ning.
