Finals : It’s Egypt again – and again !!

Egypt made it an 11th consecutive and 13th over all Girls title, and didn’t even need to play their number one – wins 3-0 by Marika Elkarasky and Habiba Rizk were enough to confirm the record 13th title.

In the Boys final individual champion Mohamed Zakaria put them ahead with a 3-0 win against USA and Seifeldin Refaay clinched a ninth title  with another 3-0 win.

Semis : Malaysia’s girls upset Hong Kong to reach the final

While the Boys’ final will be contested by top seeds Egypt and USA after they posted 2-0 wins over France and India, fourth seeds Malaysia created a girls’ upset as they beat second seeds Hong Kong to set up a final meeting with top seeds Egypt, 2-0 winners over USA.

Day Four : Semi-Finalists decided in Niagara

Quarter-Finals day at Niagara-on-the-Lake saw top seeds Egypt cruise into both semi-finals as their Boys beat Australia 3-0 and the Girls beat Pakistan 2-0. In the Boys semis they will face fourth seeds France, whose 2-0 win over Malaysia gave them a first semi-final spot for 26 years, while the Girls will go up against third seeds USA.

England, seeded third in both draws, lost out to 6th seeds Malaysia in the Girls and 5th seeds India in the Boys. Malaysia now meet second seeds Hong Kong who ended home hopes as they beat Canada while India come up against Boys’ second seeds USA.

Day Three : Top seeds all through to quarter-finals

The third day of play in Niagara saw the top seeds in both events win through to the quarter-finals.

Day Two : Boys; Last 16 decided

The second day of Boys’ Pool matches, with the top eight seeds already assured of their playoff spots, saw six of the 9/16 seeds win their second match to progress, with unseeded Germany and Hong Kong also winning to gatecrash the playoff draw.

In the Girls’ Pools the top four seeds Egypt, USA, England and France notched up their second wins to all but guarantee progress to the quarter-finals, with some crucial matches left to play in each pool to see who also progresses.
