Egypt’s Amina Orfi is officially the new PSA Squash Tour women’s World #1. At just 19 years and two months old, Orfi becomes the youngest woman to ever hold the coveted ranking, surpassing the record set by New Zealand great Susan Devoy in 1984.
Orfi secured the historic milestone with victory at last week’s QTerminals Qatar Classic in Doha, where she defeated then-World No.1 Hania El Hammamy in a dramatic 107-minute final to claim her third major victory and the 15th win of her career.
“It feels amazing,” said Orfi. “To become World Champion and become World #1 in the same year is a dream that I’ve had since I was very young and I really want to enjoy it”.
“I want to just stay at this level now and keep trying to improve every day. I want to stay on top now that I’m the World No.1 and I want to win a lot more titles too.”
The achievement caps an outstanding year so far for Orfi, who has now become both World Champion and World #1 in 2026 as well as the British Open champion.
Her rise to the summit comes after a period of rapid progression that has seen her establish herself among the leading players on the PSA Squash Tour after a record-breaking junior career that saw her claim four U19 World Junior Championship titles, the most of any player.
With squash’s Olympic debut at LA28 Olympic Games also on the horizon, Orfi now begins her reign at the top of the women’s game as the youngest female World No.1 in PSA history and will be determined to dominate the spot for many years to come.
