Top seeds Katie and Finnlay take the titles for England

It was another English double in Eindhoven as top seeds Katie Malliff and Finnlay Withington completed their junior careers by taking the European U19 titles.

England had three competitors in each set of semi-finals, but it was Hungary’s second seed Chukwu Chinyere and Netherlands’ 3/4 seed Rowan Damming who faced the top seeds in the finals.

Malliff recorded a fifth straight three-nil win to see off Chinyere while Withington came from a game down to edge past Damming.

Finnlay said: “Gassed to win. I’ve come a long way since lockdown. ‘Av it!”

Katie said: “So pleased to win my last ever junior tournament!”
