Chan Sin Yuk Claims First Title, Henry Leung Stages Comeback to Regain Crown
Organized by the Squash Association of Hong Kong, China and subvented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the finals of “Hong Kong Squash Championships 2026 – Men’s and Women’s Championships” were successfully held this afternoon at the Hong Kong Squash Centre, bringing the multi-day tournament to a perfect close.
The Women’s 3/4 playoffs opened the day’s action, with second seed Lee Ka Yi facing the 3/4 seed Tse Yee Lam Toby. Despite trailing by two games, Lee staged a strong comeback and won the deciding game 11-9 to claim the third place. On the Men’s side, the 3/4 playoff was cancelled as both Chung Yat Long Leo and Lai Cheuk Nam Matthew withdrew due to injury.
In the women’s final, top seed Chan Sin Yuk took on 3/4 seed Fung Ching Hei Heylie. Chan produced a composed performance and defeated her opponent in straight games (11-8, 11-6, 11-3) to secure her first Hong Kong Championships title.
The men’s final, the highlight of the afternoon, was a rematch of last year’s final between top seed Lau Tsz Kwan Alex and second seed Leung Chi Hin Henry. Lau started strongly, taking the first two games 11-7 and 12-10. However, Leung quickly adjusted and won the next three games (11-7, 11-6, 11-9), completing a 3-2 comeback victory after 64 minutes to reclaim the men’s title for the first time since 2024.
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held after the Men’s Final with the Honorable Duncan Chiu, Chairman of the Squash Association of Hong Kong, China; Mr. Cedric Tyen, Honorary Secretary of the General Committee of Squash Association of Hong Kong, China and Mrs. Heather Deayton, Member of Executive Committee of Squash Association of Hong Kong, China, presented the prizes to all the Men’s and Women’s winners.

The Men’s and Women’s finals will take place at 1:30 pm tomorrow at the Exhibition Court (CC) of the Hong Kong Squash Centre. Organized by Squash Association of Hong Kong, China and subvented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the “Hong Kong Squash Championships 2026 – Men’s and Women’s Championships” saw both categories contest two semi-finals each today at the Hong Kong Squash Centre, with the finalists now confirmed.
In the first Women’s semi-final, top seed Chan Sin Yuk faced 3/4 seed Tse Yee Lam Toby. Although Chan dropped the third game 10-12, she quickly regrouped and eventually prevailed 3-1 (11-6, 11-6, 10-12, 11-0) to advance, reaching the Hong Kong Squash Championships final for the first time. The other women’s semi-final produced an unexpected result. 3/4 seed Fung Ching Hei Heylie produced an excellent performance, defeating second seed Lee Ka Yi in straight games 3-0 (11-8, 11-6, 11-9) book her place in the final. Tomorrow’s women’s final will feature two players both contesting the title for the first time.
In the first Men’s semi-final, top seed Lau Tsz Kwan Alex took on 3/4 seed Chung Yat Long Leo. Lau Tsz Kwan Alex defeated his opponent 3-0 (11-5, 12-10, 11-7) in straight games and will now battle for his fourth Hong Kong title. His final opponent will be second seed Leung Chi Hin Henry. In the semi-final, Leung faced the 3/4 seed Lai Cheuk Nam Matthew in a highly intense battle. Leung took the opening game 12-10, but Lai regained his confidence in the second and won it convincingly 11-1. Lai then claimed the third game 14-12. Undeterred, Leung immediately hit back to take the fourth 11-8 and force a deciding fifth game. The final game was even tighter; at 10-10, Lai was injured and collapsed on court. After treatment he chose to return and continue the match, showing admirable sportsmanship. Leung ultimately prevailed 12-10 in the fifth to advance to the final once again.
