FINALS : Zakariah and Malliff claim first-ever Copper titles
Egypt’s Mohamed Zakariah and England’s Katie Malliff became the first-ever PSA Copper-level winners as they took five game wins over Curtis and Torrie Malik in the finals of the 16th Nash Cup in London, Ontario.
Malliff trailed twice but eventually squeezed home 11-8 in the decider.
After recovering from two games down before easing through the decider 11-1, World Junior Champion Zakariah said :
“It’s the best summer one can ask for, but it’s no surprise, I’ve worked incredibly hard to be here. The atmosphere is incredible. They were cheering for me all week, it was an incredible atmosphere and I was so happy I could scrap the win today. I was 2-0 down and I said to myself… Oh my God you’re going to regret this, your birthday is tomorrow and you’re going to have the worst birthday ever, so you need to push. And I pushed and I found a way and I completely changed the momentum, and I was extremely happy to get this title.”
Day FOUR : Semi-Finals
It’s Friday night squash and almost everyone is going home happy. The crowd was huge with spectators from across Ontario and Canada in the club. Energy was high and the bar staff was kept very busy. If you were listening to the live stream, you could likely hear all the noise in the background.
Tomorrow the amateurs play all day and then the finals start at 5pm with the new Jack Fairs Open where there is more than just the championship on the line – the winner will be provided with a wildcard entry to next month’s Canadian Open in Toronto. This match will be followed by the women’s NASH Cup final at 6pm and the men’s at 7:15. There will be a trophy presentation, and then the finals for all four amateur matches.

Thank you to Gary Delavigne (Sarnia) and Dan Van Moorsel (Chatham) for their work and to the fantastic squash communities in both cities.
Added to this nearly 60 amateurs will begin competition at London Squash tomorrow. There is still a LOT of squash to be played in the next 48 hours.
A big thank you to the NASH Cup and Jack Fairs Open Sponsors. These tournaments are not possible without you.

Day ONE, Round ONE :
An incredible opening night at London Squash and Fitness. The opening NASH Cup matches were long, and the crowd was full. The evening felt more like a semi-final or final than a first round.
Spectators were ready for some great battles, and they were not disappointed. At the start of the night 48 players represented 21 different countries. By the end we were down 32 players and 16 countries.
