Final : Lauren Baltayan (Fra) 3-1 Ingy Hammouda (Egy) 11-9, 11-8, 3-11, 11-8
It was a first PSA final for both girls – both unseeded – and Ingy Hammouda started the better, finding a few winners with her lefty forehand. But as she often does, teenager Lauren Baltayan relied on her fighting spirit to come back from behind and clinch a crucial first game.
At two-nil down things were looking worrying for Hammouda, but she perfectly capitalized on a lapse of focus from her young opponent. The beginning of the fourth game was tense, and Baltayan managed to get on top of a few closely contested rallies to race to victory.
At 16 years old and 2 days, she becomes the youngest European player ever – men and women included – to win a PSA title!
