Fram reports

“An opponent is an opponent to me and I will just try to hunt down everyone I play.”

Chicabooooom.

I said it and I will say it again. From the moment I saw that young man on a court, watched him as he focuses, between points, I have been adamant he will be at the top of our game, and for a while. I can feel some Zakaria Jonah battles coming up… And I smile just thinking about them.

His determination, confidence and drive remind me of a young French player, Gregory Gaultier. I wonder what ever happened to him…

From his debut on PSA around the top 100’s to top 20? less than 18months.

Physical endurance?? Two five-setter lost only just against Tarek Momen – with Karim Abelgawad, champion of 2/0 down wins – and Mostafa Asal. That tells you more than any long report…

“Matches and titles are won when no one’s watching, early in the morning or late at night, when your opponents are resting or sleeping, then paired with a set of balls to carry out and execute what you’ve been training for.”

Chicaboooom take II!

When talking about nearly taking out Asal at the last British Open – coming  just two points of the biggest win of his career – leading 9-8 in the fourth game, before eventually losing out in five games, he’s coldy clinical:

“At the end of the day I couldn’t care less about the result if I lose – a loss is a loss and it’s all about turning these guys over.

“I was off the back of losing my first round match in a Copper event against someone outside of the top 60 two weeks before I played Asal and yet I was still confident I had the ability to win.”

Talk about confidence. Yep, that definitely reminds me of players like Greg or Mo Bagy. Same incredible mental power.

“Results are a temporary form of confidence”

Respect. Love that boy, me.

“There’s always a bad loss or period of bad form you will experience. Use the confidence from good results, but true confidence comes from a lot more than just the results.”
