Sponsors: From CIB to Banque du Caire….

Fram Gommendy reports

Finally.

We were waiting for that move for more than 6 months now. Mr Hussein Abaza, who has been the wind under squash wings for years now under the CIB banner, has now moved to Banque du Caire. A smaller Egyptian Bank but with I’m told ambition.

Under his patronage, Squash kept going through the COVID pandemic, let’s never forget that to start with. Glass floor was also one of his “babies”. And all the Egyptian players that have been sponsored over the years. He kept the Egyptian boat floating.

During the pandemic, squash behind the scenes was tough. Really tough. A little message from Hussein:

This is what PSA players had to say about his energy and support…

Mr Abaza, a fervent  admirer of Raneem El Welily, has very strong ideas about the values of Sports in general and Squash in particular.

When Raneem played the Godfather

He is the nicest man on earth, his love for our sport and his country are second to none. He appreciates honesty (thank the Lord, as my diplomacy skills are not my strongest point), and is one of the best listeners I know. But I wouldn’t want to cross  him…

To be noted that a certain “Nour El Sherbini” has been sponsored by that Bank for a very long time. I wonder whatever happened to her….
