Ashaway Introduces Oblivion®
Adding to its long list of technical string innovations, Ashaway has introduced the first hybrid string set for Squash.
Incorporating Ashaway’s PowerNick® 18 red for the mains and Powerfusion™ white for the cross strings, Oblivion® hybrid strings offer a high power, low shock combination for amateur and professional players seeking a lively and durable means to generate excellent ball speed and control.
“The biggest argument for hybrid stringing in squash is the same argument used for any change in string: improved performance,” said Ashaway’s Steve Crandall.
“Hybrid stringing offers more variety, another way to optimize that triad of tension, durability and control, and enhance the playability of your racquet to suit your particular game.”
Popularized by touring professionals nearly 30 years ago, hybrid stringing has become a staple in the world of tennis. Hybrids help players deal with issues of durability, tension stability, and playability caused by new racquet materials and changes in head size and shape. While these changes have not been as dramatic in squash, they have been significant, leading players to seek new strategies to optimize their performance.
Oblivion’s PowerNick 18 red (1.15 mm) mains offer Zyex® monofilament core construction for exceptional power and durability. New PowerFusion crosses (1.20 mm) include braided Zyex and nylon fibers in a durable and flexible multifilament construction for a softer superior feel and enhanced ball control.
The Oblivion hybrid pattern is designed for an optimum string bed combination of durability and playability. Oblivion is available in 18 x 18 foot packaged sets and in special double reels containing 195 feet of each string.
