Top Seed Hutton Wins Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week Title
Jasmine Hutton claimed the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week 2025 title, beating Alina Bushma 3-0 on finals day in Alberta to complete an impressive week in which she did not drop a game.
The unseeded Bushma had enjoyed a sensational run in reaching this final at the Calgary Winter Club, beating the No.2, 4 and 7 seeds to get this far, having never gone beyond the second round of a World-level event before.
But standing in her way on finals day was the tournament’s No.1 seed in Hutton, who was targeting her 9th career title in just her 12th PSA final, having won her three previous matches this week in straight games.
Hutton had been pushed hard in her semi-final win over rising Egyptian star Habiba Hani, but was at the top of her game almost from the off in today’s final, moving Bushma around and hitting crisp winners at regular intervals.
In fact, the first eight points were the only time Bushma really had a look-in, as Hutton raced from 4-4 in game one to 11-5, taking just seven-and-a-half minutes to wrap up the game.
That would prove to be the longest game of the match, too, as Hutton continued to use a combination of subtle holds and clean hitting to win game two 11-5, before storming into a 10-0 lead in game three.
Bushma avoided the bagel on a stroke down the backhand side, drawing a huge cheer from the crowd and a wry smile from the Ukrainian, but it would serve to only delay Hutton’s coronation momentarily.
An inch-perfect backhand drop shot winner on the volley got the job done on the following rally, with Hutton raising her arms aloft in celebration.
Victory for the English lefty secures her a ninth career title but her first in a World-level event, and speaking after collecting her silverware, she revealed how pleased she was with today’s performance.
“I’m really happy with how I played today,” she said.
“Throughout the week I’ve been a bit edgy and losing concentration a lot, so for today today, it was really important for me to not let loose, and keep calm and composed, take each rally as it comes and take my time. I was quite happy with how I executed it today.
“I was really nervous this morning. Credit to Alina, she’s had an unbelievable week, taking out so many seeds this week.
“I was actually watching her matches back from Vancouver [last week] as well and she had some great results there, got close to Melissa Alves, so I knew she was going to be a dangerous player today.
“But I also knew that when you’ve had so many upsets like that it can take a mental toll, so I knew that if I could put the pressure on as early as possible I knew it’d be really tough for her, so I’m really happy with how I did that today.”
