Squash is booming in the United States ahead of the sport’s Olympic debut at LA 2028.
At the elite level, the U.S. Women’s Team made history in 2022 by reaching the WSF Women’s World Team Championships final for the first time.
Three players on that squad, Olivia Weaver and sisters Amanda and Sabrina Sobhy, are currently top 20-ranked players. Teammate Olivia Clyne recently retired after reaching a career-high ranking of number 11 in the world.
Their success in Cairo, Egypt, has contributed to an amateur and grassroots participation boom in the sport at home. The U.S. Junior Open tripled in participation between 2006-2021 and is now the largest junior squash tournament in the world.
Since its inception in 2005, the U.S. High School Championships have increased participation 10-fold, encompassing 195 teams, and over 1500 players from more than 20 states.
