Men’s $9k PSA Challenger, 26-30 Nov, England
Perry Malik made history for the Malik family at The Tunbridge Wells Open sponsored by Vega It & 501 Fun, winning his maiden PSA Tour title.
The 24-year-old arrived in Kent in good form, having reached the London Open final a few days earlier, but was pushed hard in round one here, needing all five games to beat Jared Carter.
A 3-0 win over Will Salter followed, setting up a showdown with his younger brother Bailey Malik, with Heston Malik featuring in the other semi-final against Ben Smith.
Heston was ultimately unable to tee up an all-Malik final, going down 3-2 to the more experienced Smith, but Perry would go on to secure glory nonetheless, beating Bailey 3-0 before putting in an impressive display to sink Smith 3-0 in the final.
Success for Perry Malik not only secured him a first PSA Tour title, but also saw him follow in the footsteps of his older brother Curtis, younger sister Torrie and younger brother Bailey in winning PSA Tour titles, marking the first time in PSA Tour history that four siblings have all won a PSA Tour title.
Malik’s success, in what was his final event of the calendar year, also helped move him up to a new career-high ranking of No.73 in the world.
