Victoria Lust announces retirement

England’s Victoria Lust has announced her retirement from professional squash after 13 years on the PSA World Tour.

Lust turned professional in 2007, and went on to have a great career in the game, winning nine titles, and reaching a high of World No.12.

Her ranking consistently improved over the years, and she finally broke into the top 20 in the World Rankings in early 2016, where she stayed for the rest of her career.

The Englishwoman took the World No.12 spot in June 2019, and held on to that position for four months, and bows out of the game at the World No.17 spot in the rankings.

During her career, Lust won nine titles, with the biggest coming at the Monte Carlo Classic and the Slaight Music and Roundtable Capital Granite Open, both in 2016.

Over the last year, Lust admitted that she had started to lack the motivation required to train every day, and that she had also had enough of the travelling required on the PSA World Tour.

“Basically if all tournaments could be from home here in Victoria, then I would be happily still playing (perhaps)!

“My favourite memories on tour are probably from representing my country, some of my best friends on tour have been on those teams and there is nothing better then stepping out on court for England and for them. I will also miss playing in places like Cleveland, Brooklyn and Chicago as my billets in places like that have become like family, so watch out I’m coming on holiday!

“I am really looking forward to doing everything that I couldn’t do while I was playing. I’m looking forward to enjoying the entire of the ski season this year, that’s for sure! I have also been coaching the whole time I’ve been playing and last year got a head coaching job at a school and I’ve been really enjoying that and looking forward to getting stuck into it more.

“I would also like to quickly thank for their tireless support and help over the years my Parents, Sarah, Mike, England Squash and anyone else who helped me along the way!”
