It’s a 10th title for Egypt !

Playing in their eighth consecutive final – and the third in a row against Malaysia, Egypt claimed their eighth Women’s World Junior Team title as Amina Orfi and Zeina El-Din secured wins in the first two matches to ensure the trophy stayed in Egyptian hands.

Day FIVE, Semi-Finals : top seeds through to final

Top seeds Egypt and Malaysia will meet in the final after 2-0 victories over England and USA in today’s semis.

In the first match of the day Thanusaa Uthrian put Malaysia one up then Aira Azman fought back from two games down against Caroline Fouts to give Malaysia the win.  Defending champions Egypt eased past England with 3-0 wins from Zeina El-Din and Amina Orfi.

The final will be the third consecutive Egypt v Malaysia final, with Egypt aiming for an eighth straight title.

Day FOUR Quarter-Finals : England join top three

Top three seeds Egypt, USA and Malaysia are through to the semi-finals in Melbourne, alongside fifth seeds England who came from behind to upset fourth seeds Hong Kong.

Egypt eased past hists Australia in three, and second seeds Malaysia won in two over Canada while USA needed to come from behind against India after Anahat Singh upset Caroline Fouts in the opening match.

Asia Harris put England ahead in the top string before Ena Kwong levelled for Hong Kong but Amelie Haworth won the decider to put England into the last four.

Day THREE – Pool positions decided

The final round of Pool matches saw the quarter-final and playoff lineups decided …

Pool A : top seeds Egypt were already through, and a 2-1 win for Canada over Scotland saw them through to the last eight.
Pool B : Malaysia were already assured of a quarter-final spot, joined by hosts Australia who came from behind to beat New Zealand.
Pool C : USA and England won their final matches to finish first and second in the Pool.
Pool D : India and Hong Kong both won to complete the quarter-final lineups.
