Finals : It’s a home double in Chennai for Singh and Chotrani
The SRFI Indian Tour 2025 concluded in spectacular fashion as Indian players dominated both the Men’s and Women’s categories of the PSA Challenger 15 event held in Chennai.
Veer Chotrani, one of India’s most promising squash stars, clinched his sixth PSA title and second Challenger 15 crown of the season, defeating France’s Melvil Scianimanico in four games.
In the Women’s category Anahat Singh added another feather to her already illustrious cap by capturing her 100th career title and 10th PSA title. The 17-year-old prodigy overcame compatriot Akanksha Salunkhe in an all-Indian final, further underlining her dominance and consistency on the professional tour. Anahat remains one of the brightest and most exciting young talents in both Indian and world squash.
The SRFI Indian Tour continues to provide a valuable platform for Indian players to showcase their skills against international competition and earn valuable PSA ranking points. Semis : Indian stars through to the finals in Chennai
The stage is set for an electrifying final clash between India’s top squash players, Akanksha Salunkhe and Anahat Singh, at the SRFI Indian Tour 2025, a PSA Challenger Tour 15K event. The two players secured their spots in the final with impressive victories in the semifinals.
The head-to-head history between Akanksha and Anahat adds an extra layer of excitement to the final. Anahat currently leads 2-1, having won their previous encounters at the National Championship in August 2024 and the PSA Challenger 9K in Mumbai in December 2024. However, Akanksha emerged victorious in their clash at the PSA Challenger 12K in September 2024, held in Malaysia. A win for Akanksha tomorrow would level their head-to-head record at 2-2.
In the men’s event, India’s Veer Chotrani stormed into the final with a convincing 3-0 win over Sri Lanka’s Ravindu Laksiri. He will face French player Melvil Scianimanico in the final tomorrow at 15:15 IST at the ISA, Chennai.
Quarters : Indians shine on Day Three in Chennai
Four homegrown players – Joshna Chinappa, Akanksha Salunkhe, Anahat Singh, and Veer Chotrani – stormed into the semifinals of the SRFI Indian Tour 2025, a PSA Challenger Tour 15K event.
The quarterfinals day saw some thrilling matches, with the biggest upset being top-seeded Karim El Hammamy from Egypt losing to Melvil Scianimanico from France in four games.
In the women’s section, Joshna Chinappa, Akanksha Salunkhe, and young prodigy Anahat Singh all won their respective matches to advance to the semifinals. Veer Chotrani was the lone Indian to make it to the semifinals in the men’s section.
With four Indian players in the semifinals, the host nation will be hoping to clinch the title.
Round One :
The SRFI Indian Tour 2025, a PSA Challenger $15,000 event for men and women, commenced today at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai. The tournament, which runs from March 17 to 21, has attracted top squash players from around the world.
India’s top players, including Veer Chotrani, Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu, and Joshna Chinappa, are participating in the event. Other Indian players in the fray include Suraj Kumar Chand, Rahul Baithy, Om Semwal, Diwakar Singh, Arihant KS, Mohit Bhatt, Sandesh PR, and Yusha Nafees in the men’s category, and Akansha Salunkhe, Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Shameena Riaz, Pooja Arthi, and Rathika Suthanthira Seelan in the women’s category.
The first round saw two major upsets. In the women’s category, India’s Shameena Riaz stunned Japan’s Akari Midorikawa 2-11, 12-10, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5 in a thrilling 40-minute match. In the men’s category, Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of India’s Yusha Nafees, who won 11-4, 11-9, 11-13.
