Very saddened to hear the passing of one of the greatest all time coaches and mentor, Malcolm Willstrop.
His coaching was legendary with so many generations as he educated his players with knowledge and wisdom about the game. My first experience was age 11 and he laid down the etiquette needed to play the game of squash. He didn’t tolerate people who didn’t play the ball and looking for a let.
By age 14, i remember getting a letter from his asking me to play on his National league men’s team at Pontefract. He mentored me to understand the inner game of squash.
What i learned from Malc was enormous and have since sent people to “Ponte Carlo” to learn from him over the last 30 years. Yorkshire , Pontefract squash club and England squash will miss this legend.
Ironically i posted this pic two years ago today and it came up on my feed and i heard the news 5 mins later.
Thoughts are with his family and the squash world has lost a GREAT one.
RIP Malc
