It was another busy day with the last sixteens in the morning and the quarter-finals on the glass court in the afternoon/evening. In the men’s Last 16 Switzerland’s Yannick Wilhelmi created the only upset as he beat Hungary’s Balasz Farkas in a 102-minute marathon. Come the evening session, Wilhelmi couldn’t repeat the feat as he fell in straight games to top seeded Frenchman Victor Crouin, the defending champion.
Home favourite Iker Pajaraes claimed the evening headlines as the 5/8 seed ousted second seed Baptiste Masotti in four games. Pajares and Crouin will both face Swiss opposition in the semi-finals as 3/4 seeds Nicolas Mueller and Dimitri Steinmann both won twice to advance to the last four.
In the women’s draw top seeds Tinne Gilis and Melissa Alves both eased through their matches to reach the last four. Gilis, the 2022 Champion, meets France’s 3/4 seed Marie Stephan while Alves will be up against Finland’s Emilia Soini who ousted 3/4 seed Enora Villard in four games that were disrupted by repairs to the glass court.
