Day Three : Top seeds set up all French and Belgian finals in Chartres

The top seeds will contest the EICC finals in Chartres, with Belgian sisters Tinne and Nele Gilis facing off for the women’s title while the men’s final will be an all-French affair between Victor Crouin and Baptiste Masotti.

Nele, champion two years ago, ended home interest as she beat Melissa Alves in straight games while defending champion Tinne came from a game down to end the run of Spain’s Marta Dominguez.

In the first men’s semi Masotti twice came from a game down and then saved a match ball in the decider before finally beating Iker Pajares 12-10. Top seed and defending champion Crouin won though as Switzerland’s Nicolas Mueller retired injured late in the first game.

The finals start at 15.00 on Saturday.

Day TWO : Top seeds through to the semis in Chartres

Another two rounds of play on Day Two in Chartres, where the top four seeds in the Men’s and Women’s draws won through to the semi-finals.

Semi-Finals start at 17.20 on Friday.

Day ONE : Women’s seeds suffer in Chartres

The first day of EICC play in Chartres saw two rounds of action as the draws were taken down to the last sixteens.

Fifteen of the men’s seeds prevailed, the only upset coming as Swiss Louai Hafez squeezed past France’s 9/16 seed Brice Nicolas in a five game battle that was the longest of the day.

It wasn’t such good news for the women’s seeds with six of the sixteen losing out. The biggest upsets saw Czechia’s Karolina Sramkova and Netherland’s Renske Huntelaar beat 5/8 seeds Kiera Marshall and Enora Villard.

There are two more rounds on Day Two which will see the semi-finalists decided.
