“When I retired from the Paris Open in September, not once did I think I had suffered an injury that would prevent me from playing squash for 6 months. Yet, here we are, 6 months later, finally cleared to step back on court and hit squash balls with my right hand.
“Initially, I had a TFCC tear causing pain and discomfort in my wrist.
“However, it was the more unusual and severe fracture of the Hook of my Hamate which contributed to the inability to pick up a racquet and hit balls.
“The only solution ended up being a surgical procedure to remove the hook that was scheduled for New Year’s Eve.
“This long, and arduous journey had left me contemplating what exactly I would like out of my career as a professional, the true ‘why’ behind it all, as well as how I can use this extended period of distance from the PSA tour for the best. I’d like to think I have found answers for these now, but it wasn’t until after the fact of it all that allowed clarity.
“While being “in it,” I could only feel confusion, exhaustion, doubt, and failure.
“Six months later, I feel strength, excitement, pride, and faith. There really is so much ahead and I can’t wait to face it all – the highs, lows and everything in between.”
